Short Biography

First Version

After studying Physics, Amin Khoshsabk began his composition studies in 2014 with Kiawasch SahebNassagh, and later at University of Tehran with Sara Abazari and Amin Honarmand. He also has become acquainted with Csound and electronic music at Joachim Heintz’s several workshops. Amin composes for instruments and electronics. He won the first prize of the third year of the Reza Korourian Competition in 2018 and his works have been performed by ensembles such as Multiphon, KNM Berlin, Horizonte, Yarava Modern Ensemble and Deux and musicians such as Eva Zöllner, Ulrike Brand, Yasamin Shahhosseini, Atieh Shahverdi and Niloufar Shahbazi. He is one of the founders and for two years the director of YES (Yarava Electronic Studio).

Second Version

Amin Khoshsabk was born in 1988 in Mashhad, Iran. He began his musical journey as a teenager by learning the piano under Flora Sarraf and later continued his studies with Yaghoub Sahhaf, focusing on Solfeggio and the fundamentals of harmony. After completing his undergraduate degree in physics at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, he moved to Tehran, where he studied music theory and the basics of composition with Kiawasch SahebNassagh and Amirhossein Allahdadi.

He earned his Master’s degree in composition from the University of Tehran (College of Fine Arts), studying under the supervision of Sara Abazari and also learning a lot from Amin Honarmand and Mohammad-Reza Tafazzoli.

In 2017, Khoshsabk was recognized in the fields of composition and academic writing at the Shiraz International Music Festival “SIMF.” The following year, in 2018, he won first place in the Third Electroacoustic Music Composition Competition, known as the “Reza Korourian Award.” He was also selected among the finalists in the 2019 edition of the same competition.

His works have been performed by ensembles such as the Yarava Modern Ensemble, Deux, Multiphon, KNM Berlin, Horizonte, and by musicians including Mehdi Jalali (ukulele), Yasamin Shahhosseini (oud), Atiyeh Shahverdi (Iranian percussion), Sahar YousefiFard (kamancheh), Niloufar Shahbazi (kamancheh), Ehsan Ebrahimi (santur) Shaghayegh Bagheri (voice), Khashayar Amri (piano), Mehrnoosh Zolfaghari (santur), Sohrab Jalaee (viola), Fahimeh Taghavi (oboe), Hossein Pourpashang (guitar), Mehrdad Ghaffari (piano), Sina Kafashi (piano), Alla Shokodko (cello), Ulrike Brand (cello), Eva Zöllner (accordion), Almut Lustig (percussion), Justus Czaske (clarinet), Milena Schuster (violin), Maria Pache (viola), Rebecca Lenton (flute), Theo Nabicht (bass clarinet), and Gudrun Reschke (oboe), in countries such as Iran, Germany, Italy, Australia and France.

During his graduate studies in composition, Khoshsabk became acquainted with the Yarava Music Group and Joachim Heintz. Following his graduation, he continued his collaboration with Yarava in organizing the Tehran International Electronic Music Festival (TIEMF). He is also one of the founding members and served for two years as the director of the Yarava Electronic Studio (YES).
