Textures (2016)
About Piece
Textures was composed for an ensemble in 2016. The initial idea for this piece was influenced by the concept of sound texture from Helmut Lachenmann’s 1966 article, “Types of Sound in New Music.” To achieve a sound texture, I first designed a graph and composed the piece based on it. The arcs in the graph represent musical phrases, and each of the other symbols has a specific, defined meaning. More complete explanations are provided at the beginning of the score.
This piece was one of my composition projects, which I completed at the University of Tehran under the supervision Dr. Sara Abazari.
