Deux (2024)
About Piece
Witnessing the birth of a human being is one of the most amazing events in life and so is the birth of an ensemble. I had the honor of being present during the first season of the “Deux” ensemble’s formation. I witnessed its development and growth, and ultimately participated in its debut concert.
It was in mid-August 2023 when Atieh Shahverdi, my friend and colleague in the Yarava Music Group and a performer of Iranian percussion instruments, contacted me and invited me to compose a piece for the newly established “Deux” ensemble. I wrote this piece in close collaboration with her, Sahar YousefiFard, a performer of Iranian bowed instruments, and Sina MousaviFard, the ensemble’s director. I dedicated the piece to this ensemble.

Performance
This piece was performed alongside works by three other composers in a concert held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Parsian Sound City Studio.
